Gallery of Refugees from 2015 - Part 2 (Central Europe)
Syrians, as well as those from Iraq, Afghanistan, and across the Middle East and North Africa, fled by the millions to Europe in 2015. That year, I photographed their journeys.
Yesterday, in Political.tips I published a selection of photos from Greece and North Macedonia, which highlighted a few of the millions of asylum seekers and migrants who left Syria and other locations across the Middle East and North Africa, seeking new beginnings in Europe.
This next batch of photos will come from Serbia, Slovenia, and Germany. My work as a photojournalist has come a long way since then, as seen in this former Amazon chart-topper covering the first six months of the war in Ukraine. However, in looking back to this time nine years ago, traversing along the same routes that these travelers took was about much more than getting the perfect shot at the time; it was much more about learning about the human condition, and I believe that is what will show through in Part Two of this series.
Tomorrow, Part Three will cover my time spent in the “Jungle” of Calais, France.
