This week, Jake Sullivan became the first US National Security Advisor to visit China in eight years. While the outcome of any discussions between Sullivan and his Chinese counterparts is yet to be determined, it is worth remembering what is known about China’s relationship with Russia, another of America’s adversaries. Esteemed State Department sage Alex Raufoglu noted on his X account that Sullivan did bring up ongoing US concerns over the relationship between the PRC and the Russian Federation.
In July 2023, the ODNI (Office of the Director of National Intelligence) published a nine-page document outlining the Xi government’s substantial support to its Kremlin allies.
