I worry greatly about these brave fighters being used as examples if captured. Similarly, being used in exchange for Russian war criminals. They are very vulnerable given their countries of origin.

One suggestion: I understand that you were conveying the thoughts of a speaker, but placing the Holocaust alone in quotation marks could be misconstrued as Holocaust denialism, which I'm absolutely certain you don't intend. There's no need for the quotation marks anyway, since quoting a single term doesn't require them. If you can revise, I'd suggest enlarging the quotation.

From my understanding, they are well equipped at least in Kharkiv Oblast.

I think it is something that goes through everyone's mind near the front. No doubt thats when their bravery is strongest.
